I've made a desicision. I'm signing off, no more cancer's crap. I had my ct scan on friday, it was fairly awful, i don't know the results yet, I won't know for a couple of weeks, of course i'm scared, but i can't go on like this, sitting around terrrified that my cancer might come back, I can't go on being a person who had cancer any more, its too hard, its a limbo. I have to lock the lid on my very own pandora's box that was lorna's cancer story. It'll sit on the shelve next to all my other knightmares. Of course I'll tie up the loose ends, i've got a book to finish for a start, and draw on the experience for the sake of getting some fucking good paintings done, but cancer's crap, is being laid to rest. My life can't be about cancer any more, its has to be about living, not fear and pain. I'll post my new blog address when i think it up. I'll check in everyonce in awhile. But I really hope i'm not back posting here ever again.

Once again long time no post. Not alot has happened, my children have given up sleeping which makes everything a bit more of a challenge.
I have a project, i have to put together a draft of the book, it will be a collabiration of my writing and gary's photographs documenting my cancer story. I always assumed i would use post and exherts from my blog for this, but now it comes to the actual writing of everything its proving more differcult than i thought. Other news, i have a ct scan on friday, and i have to drink something gross first and have an injection, fun. i don't think i need mention that i'm dreading it. not up for being fobbed of on rubbish stroppy, junior doctor again eitheir.
Any suggestion for a title for the book?

More pictures
Blog is being tempermental, keeps on not letting me post. Chlo, where are you when i need you. I'm currently in the middle of painting a picture of my insides, i'll post it if its any good when its done. Can't seem to capture the rawness of my flesh though, it sort of glistens, whilst my body gives off an etherial glow, all terrribly differcult to paint.
Not alot else has happened, keep on saying things that seem to make people feel very uncomfortable, an example being watching wedding video and there was a faintly romantic lingering shot of me and i come out with "fuck, if i'd have died that would have been a killer." I am well aware that my candid comments make people squirm, as does my perverse facination with graphic images of all the invasive things they've done to me but its my mortality we're talking about and i don't want to sound utterly selfish, but i'm not willing to tip toe on eggshells around certain people who quite frankly are too bloody precious with themselves. Rant over, have some more pictures to look at, again copyright to Gareth Phillips.

I can do stuff! This week has been a good one, infact I feel like it has been a hugely significant milestone. I went swimming on monday, and it has to be said i was really nervous, i haven't really tested the limitations of my new post human body, largely down to all the restrictions the surgical team put on me, and monday was a test of my new body. The pool was very calm, only a few silver swims bobbing about, which put me slightly more at ease, at least if my scar ripped open and my intestines fell out it would have been a particuly public ordeal. So i get in the water, all greased up like a channel swim so as not to get chlorine, chemicals and piss from the swimming pool water all over my scar tissue, of course it was cold, but after a bit of hesistation i give swimming ago and lo and behold i can! I can't do crawl, it pulls everything to much, but i was always fairly crap at that, get half way down the pool and become very aware that the lifeguard is looking in your direction trying to figure out whether or not your drowning type thing. I only did half a km breast stroke but still, i was imensly proud of my self. And then for my second big achievement of the week a met up with my pilates instructor for a sort of one on one session to see what i can and can't do, and it turns out i can do everything i did before, in fact possibly i'm a bit better. In short abdominal muscles clearly serve little purpose, apart from the whole hernia thing. I am no longer completely physical redundant! No one else except lucy seems as pleased about this as me. This is a big deal. b's back from school my attention is need else where.
I forgot, i'll get in to trouble if i don't do this, both the roast dinner, wedding and pre op photos taken by and copyright of Gareth Phillips. - saw your dad today gar, bought a poppy off him.

Return to Velindre
I haven't blogged about fridays little excursion to velindre, don't quite know why as i certainly had alot to say about it afterwards. So here goes. 2.45 pm and lorna is due to make her first visit to velindre following the conclusion of her treatment. Obviously i was a wreck as far as nerves adn emotions go, i had no idea what my visit was go to entail so was concocting allsorts of horrible notions of examinations and proceedues that may insue, (i have a highly over active imagenation so it is a good idea to give me all the facts grim or otherwise, so i don't let thing run riot in my head). So we arrive, papparatzi in toe as ever (gary), witnessing a fairly violent altercation between unknown man and women in a car on the way, the joys of cardiff. As ever i am the youngest in the waiting room full of over fifties. I 'm directed off to the x-ray department, whoo more scans, bump in to dr tilsley on the way,(my onocologist) who is not very cheery, and falls short of his usual charming self. i'm the sent to take some clothes off, which makes me hugely suspicious, an mri scan prahaps?, ahh no sigh of relief, chest x-ray, adn a friendly looking machine "if you could just push your breasts against the metal plate" right ok, is that it. Very brief, very un invasive, nice change reaally. next i trop off for a consultation. But wait where is dr tilsley, oh no! (in batman stylecartoony graphics) junior doctor! dn dn durnnn. Seriously normally this isn't an issue for me, but i really like my onocologist and considering the last time he saw me i was depressed as all hell on morphine had no skin on the right side of my tummy and a weeping infection in the raw wound, you would think he would like to see how i'm doing. By this point its beginning to dawn on me that i am no longer a priority as i am techniquely no longer a cancer patient, which is well fair enough but they don't have to make it so damn obvious. So grumpy junior doctor who i had in the first three seconds formed a giant loathing for simply because shes not dr tilsley, informs me in a very off hand manner, that my x-ray was ok. What the fuck does ok mean, if a films ok, it means you didn't think its was good but it wasn't that bad eitheir, if some one says a meal is ok, we can conclude that it was pallatable but they're not recommending the resteraunt, so what pray tell does ok mean in the context of my x ray? Turns out it means it was fine, clear of cancer, nothing to see. I try and encourage a little postivity from the doctor, she seemssighting that it might just make people feel better, she doesn't really warm to the idea. She want to look at my scar, i pull up my t shirt, not really wanting to clamber on the bed, yes that looks fine. Again i feel cheated, does she even know what she looking at, its not fine its a bloody marvel compared to what it was. In short i left velindre feeling dismissed. It felt likei was there so they could tick a box, regarding follow up precedures, not to see how i was. And why is it so few doctors have any sense of compassion and empathy. She asked about my diarheorra but failed to address the issue of my state of mind. it felt like There was just a total disregard for everything i've just been through. Enough whinging b's back from school.

Don't know if i have anything exciting to write, so i'll begin and see where this goes. Miss chloe, miss coffee and cynicism, and i'm missing her help with computer stuff, How do i do links again? Don't really know so i'll just tell you the link instead, aeryn.org, definatly worth a visit, she's been through hell and remains fantasticly funny, and generous in sharing her experience of cancer with others, also shes a whole lot more computer literate than me and her site is a really good resource for people cancer. note my refusal to use the phrase "cancer victim". What else do i have to talk about? Umm, seeing the ever comedic Dr tilsley on friday, not quite sure why, thought i was having a ct scan, apparently not, hope he's not about to suggest something else, chemo or something. That would be crap. running out of things to talk about, lets look at some pictures instead.

Trees and stuff
I'm back, although to be honest i don't think anyone noticed i was gone. Have been for a bit of r and r at my mum's, in the country. Lashings of fresh air, lots of nature, spotted, one heron, two hawks, one red kite, lots of tropical butterflies, one donkey, one lama, ponies galore, two wallabies, two goats, pigs with piglets, numerous seals, lots of horses one dolphin (which i am very smug about) and more sheep and cows than you could eat in a lifetime. It was nice. Good to see my mum, and sister and it turns out her boyfriend isn't the complete twat i had him down for, -quite sweet infact.
Aside from that, think i did a good job of pissing off all the smokers of the world last week, don't mind that much, apart from one person, so here especially for her is my new analagy about smoking, well sort of. Its not that i think your choice to smoke means that you don't care about everything i've just been through, its just...you know when you see the telly appeal for the starving children in africa and then you sit down to eat and some snot faced little rat bag, possibly, no probably mine, refuses to eat because its been cut up the wrong way or the sauce is mixed in to the pasta, its sort of like that. Oh god i'm making no sense, it made sense in my head, i doubt i've made things any better. Giving up now......
Oh yes and .......nits again, need i say more.
